Therefore, I replaced only one strut, and left the original strut on the other side. It turned out to be just perfect. Both new struts was too much force to open and close. 2) You will need to remove one strut, and drill out the bracket on the bottom such that the new strut will accept a new bolt and nut through the eyelet. The original struts have swivel heads, the replacement one has eyelets that you bolt through. This is not a problem, and this model will extend the hood just as much as the original struts.
